cleaning guide for teenagers
Ok people, we either were a teenager or we had them or we have them, its a choice of the three but whatever the answer is, we know what they are like. It's like their last chance to do whatever they want before they get responsibilities, so I guess I can't blame them.
And the very last thing on their mind is to keep their room clean and tidy. But as we know it is very good for them to be clean, tidy and organised. And especially if their room is organised, it will help them be organised and focused on more than themselves.
We have some ideas and tactics to help you with your teenager tidiness issues and hopefully generate some space in their room they will like and maybe even enjoy!!
OK, so here goes. Try to make this a team thing, it must be worth a try. You must begin with a big clean but before this happens, try and do the talking thing with them to agree what and who is doing what. They will need help as you know, just try and make sure they get involved themselves and own it, as it is for them. And explain it is for them mainly. Listen to what they have to say and any ideas they have and be nice and respect their views, even though they may not be great... :-) You cannot do it alone without them as it will be seen as you going through their private possessions and attacking their space.
Organise a time to start, when you both are good and have time to do this properly.
Here is the plan, a step by step plan for cleaning, it makes it more efficient, hopefully they will see this too and it should develop into a routine for your teen to follow on their own. Make sure only one job at a time is worked on and is finished before the next job begins.
Now here are some ideas on storage.
Some good ideas there, but if after all that you want some help, please call us and we will get involved.
"You people are very good, you got a very nasty red wine stain out of my lovely carpet, so thank you very much."
