Our Cleaning Tips
Is your home in need of some serious tlc? Here are our top tips for a perfect deep clean....
To do the job properly you need to devote a whole day to it. To clean a house thoroughly from top to bottom is no easy task, it is going to take time and effort so clear your head of anything else and get stuck in. Before you start there are a few essentials to tick off the list and actually before you start ticking, why not just call Carpet Cleaning Newcastle and take the day off!!
1- Things could get messy, so now is not the time to wear your best clothes Get your scruffs on and a good pair of rubber gloves.
2- To get you in the mood you need music, so turn the radio up so you can sing along to your favourite tunes. This will really lift your mood when you hit a really stubborn stain.
3- Prepare to burn some serious calories. You are going to be working so hard this may be the best exercise you've had in months. But remember it is a marathon not a burn all your energy too soon.
It is always best to start a deep clean on a dry day when the sun is shining and there is a light breeze. You can throw open all your windows and let the fresh air and light flood your home while you work. This will help to eliminate stale odours, allow dust to escape and make the whole house feel fresher straight away.
Start by removing all the curtains from the windows and all the sheets of the beds. Dump them all in a huge pile by the washing machine and get the first load on the go. Your washing machine is your best friend today, taking good care of the laundry while you get on with other things. At the end of each cycle hang the washing out on the line and get the next load straight in, the pile will soon begin to shrink. This alone is a big task but there really is nothing better than clean curtains and bedding.
You can now get started in the bathroom. Wearing rubber gloves squirt your preferred cleaning product on tiles and around the shower, bath and sink and toilet. Give this a chance to really soak in to remove all the caked on bathroom gunk. In the meantime use a bowl of hot soapy water and a sponge to wipe down all the window frames. You can use a window cleaning detergent to clean the windows and rub them dry with newspaper for a smear free finish. Rinse the cleaning product from around the bathroom to leave it gleaming like new.
In the bedrooms you need to be able to get to every little nook and cranny, this can be particularly difficult in children's bedrooms where there are lots of toys everywhere but move as much as you can. This is probably a good time to get them to clear out anything they don't play with anymore. You could take old toys to a charity shop, or perhaps store them in the attic or the garage for now and maybe do a carboot sale in the summer. That or ebay, whatever you prefer. Dust all surfaces including the skirting boards and vacuum behind wardrobes and drawers, then place everything back into the room as neatly as possible. Move around each bedroom and the living room repeating the same process until each one is just right.
Well you have probably done 3 or 4 loads of washing by now so your pile should have shrunk some what. Hopefully it is all drying nicely on the line ready to be rehung.
The last room to tackle is the kitchen. Kitchens can get very greasy from cooking and it is not until you start trying to clean it that you realise how bad it has got. The first thing to do is to squirt some oven cleaner in the oven as they usually take about half an hour to work properly. It is a good idea to work from the top, so start by cleaning the dust and grease on the top of your cupboards. I know nobody can see up there but if you don't do it now it will only get worse and be even tougher the next time.
Then begin emptying each cupboard one by one wiping each one out with an antibacterial spray and kitchen roll, replace everything neatly back into the cupboard. You may as well clean out the fridge while you are at it and throw away anything past it's use by date. Wash, dry and put away any pots then clean all the work surfaces. Empty the bin and then take it outside to clean it with some hot soapy water. The oven cleaner should have done it's job by now so it is time to clear of the cleaning product. Finally sweep and mop the floor and allow it to dry naturally with the doors and windows wide open.
After a long hard day the end is in sight. Bring all the clean laundry in off the washing line and if necessary iron curtains and bedding before putting them back on.
It is probably getting late by now and you are probably pretty exhausted. So jump in your lovely clean bath and enjoy a long, hot soak and a glass of wine. Well done you!
